Capacity planning is a critical process for increasing your company profitability. We all likely have a shoulder season, that time of year when consumption is lower than peak season. This allows more crew days to install than we have jobs to actually install. So what we need to do is consider this in our pricing, how we view and allocate overhead, and ultimately what we do to try to manage more leads/sales to drive those unsold days downward. If we can drive the unsold days down, our days sold get better and our selling efficiency improves. We need to plan our overhead for selling efficiency, track this metric, and work to improve efficiency via marketing and sales.
